Camp Roger Session 10 Day 4: A Typical Thursday

Hello!

My name is Maty and I am camp’s Media Manager. It’s my job to take all the pictures that you see on our website everyday, film and edit end of session videos, and to oversee everything that gets posted to the blog.

What a crazy day we had yesterday! Our campers had a blast last night at Bear Creek Bonanza. Dozens of crawfish were caught, sloppy joes were enjoyed, and tug of war went off without a hitch. It was a truly wonderful night filled with joy and laughter.

Today’s schedule has been relatively calm compared to yesterday’s. Campers woke up this morning and enjoyed some incredible breakfast burritos and went to chapel, where they heard Camp’s Public Relations intern, Josh, talk about our redemption through Jesus. It was then time for morning activities. Campers got to do some really awesome things today like creating their own fishing poles, playing canoe dodgeball, and climbing all the way up to the top of the rock climbing wall. After that, the waterfront opened up for freeswim. Some campers decided to venture down to the waterfront, while others made their way to the nature center to hold some animals.

As I write this, cabins are out in the woods for cabin activity. This is one of my favorite times of the day because it gives each group the chance to get to know each other better while exploring God’s creation. During this 2 hour period, cabins play games or even do wacky activities like having a concert in the treehouse or going on a teddy bear hunt. These kinds of activities are usually the highlight of the week for most campers. I still remember doing these kinds of things with my cabin as a camper and how much fun they brought the whole group.

Tonight, there is a chance of some rain so we will be doing Camp’s famous evening program: Thursday Night At The Improv. After dinner, campers will gather in Chapel Grove to watch their counselors, and even some of their fellow campers, perform different improv sketches. The night will be filled with puns, crazy scenarios, and a whole lot of laughter.

Thank you so much for sending your children to camp this week! This has been such a wonderful group of kids and it has been an absolute pleasure to get to hang out with them every day.
