SPRING BREAK GO DAYS? YES!
GO stands for Get Outside. And that’s what we’re going to do!
GO Days (ages 6 – 14) are scheduled one-day outdoor education days for students at Camp Roger. GO Day experiences take place almost completely outdoors and within small groups at our Camp Roger campus, conveniently located in Rockford. Filled with the same creative programming that has taken place in Camp Roger’s woods for over 100 years – these are days full of exploration, play, new friendships, and learning outdoors.
A growing body of scientific research highlights that outdoor play and learning in school-age children have been linked to the development of core skills such as problem-solving, creativity, curiosity, risk-identification, self-regulation, as well as social/emotional well-being.
GO DAYS offer students fun and hands-on learning activities that help promote a greater love and a better understanding of our world, our neighbors, and ourselves.
Students will be placed in small groups of similar ages and will engage in fun, educational, and age-appropriate activities led by well-trained, experienced staff. The specific activities will be determined by the weather but might include lessons and activities like the following: team building, the maze, survival fires, shelters, outdoor cooking, egg drop, Rube Goldberg, orienteering, wetlands, water cycle, animals and their habitats lessons, archery, creative games, and much more. Some days may overlap in activities, but each day will have a different focus.
Students will spend most of the day outdoors, so please dress for the weather! Pack a water bottle and lunch, put a smile on your face, and come to Camp Roger for a great day of learning and playing outdoors!
