Welcome to camp, Chad!

July 13, 2026
Dear friends of Camp Roger, Camp Scottie, and The Acorn Resale Shop,

The Camp Roger Board of Directors is excited to announce that through a unanimous vote, Chad Pierce has been appointed as our next Executive Director. We are incredibly excited for the future God is calling us into with Chad as he leads us deeper into encountering and celebrating God's love for His children through relationships and experiences in Creation.

Chad was drawn to Camp Roger largely because of our expanded mission of Belonging. Beyond the evident alignment of this mission in his life and career, Chad was selected as Executive Director due to his history of missional and formational leadership, relationship-building abilities, and pastoral presence as an executive leader.
As a lead pastor, Chad has led communities to a deeper understanding of themselves through attentive listening to God’s call. He has sat in the balance of honoring historic identity while recognizing when God is encouraging that identity to expand. He has worked to create spaces where individuals and groups aren’t just included across their differences but celebrated. He has a history of meeting people where they are and letting the Spirit guide his role in supporting them, without putting himself at the center of their narrative.

As a teacher and professor, he has personally inspired an excitement for God’s unfolding story at a personal level. His encouragement, knowledge, and lived example invite others to consider where they can be a part of that story in each stage of their faith journey. He carries this passion for both adults and youth.
In his personal life, Chad is married to Jodi, who is the Spanish and Mandarin Immersion Director at Zeeland Christian School. They have four children: Jenna and her husband Julien, Michael, David, and Greta.

Chad deeply enjoys being in Creation and immersing himself in other cultures. While a variety of long-distance races and events have taken him all over the world, he shares that same excitement to celebrate our immediate environment and be present in it – witnessing the goodness and splendor of the Creator.
Through his volunteer work, Chad has provided leadership for the Holland Free Health Clinic, removing barriers and increasing access for underserved individuals. He has also served on the board with our friends at Camp Geneva, contributing to our shared goal of providing a meaningful and faith-anchored summer camp experience in West Michigan.

From the search committee’s first interactions with him, Chad’s depth of character and wisdom stood out strongly. Chad’s life has been shaped by the bold direction of the Spirit, resulting in a lifelong journey of listening, learning, and leading others to do the same. By his own account, Chad is first and foremost a storyteller.

As Camp’s Executive Director, we see a leader who understands our mission and seeks to be its biggest supporter and advocate. We are eager to onboard Chad in mid-August, bringing him into the special routines of summer camp as it draws to a close, before he launches into the full range of year-round duties. We celebrate God’s goodness and provision through Chad’s appointment and stand incredibly excited for Camp Roger’s next chapter, supported by Chad’s excellent leadership. It is a blessing to be led farther up and further in together under the promises of a good and faithful God.

Sincerely,
Paul Lanning
